rain, rain, go away

claudette is reeking havoc across my portion of texas and she is consequently ruining my plans. this is why i dont like rain. while it is good for the earth etc, it almost always ruins some plan of mine for the day, especially when i want to go mountain biking b/c any rain at all leaves the trail muddy and no fun for possibly more than one day. so my question is, who else isnt a fan of rain? it seems to me that most girls/women are, but this is based on only a few conversations with women about rain. so maybe its divided along gender lines?

I love rain, especially in the late afternoon. It's comforting, and is the best cigarette weather, if you have shelter. Before anyone questions my masculinity, let me hasten to add that I also like football, the All-Star Game, large steaks, and pickup trucks. And women.

Yes, but you suck at football, dont' have tickets to the all star game, no money to buy a large steak or a pickup truck, and given the last two can't afford a woman either.

Me, I like rain. It's free.

I dig rain, particularly when listening to complementary music; it makes it that much more pleasant. Good music is Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue," the entire album, and, appropriately, Led Zepp's "Rain Song." Also any kind of trance, such as Paul van Dyk. I don't, however, like driving in it that much.

With the exception of the steak, I make no claims to successful participation in the things I like.

while rain is unwanted and an inconvenience to me, i think there is nothing cooler than thunderclouds, esp. when you see a storm miles off in the distance. ive witnessed it twice this summer so far (once with lightning going nuts at night and the other tonight with the sunsset reflecting off some of the clouds). i think there is no more beautiful and simultaneously incredible natural weather phenomenon.

Rain is one of those things that is good in reasonable amounts. The amount we've been getting in Chattanooga lately, however, is neither reasonable nor pleasant.

I don't want to hear about you "participating" in a steak Mesh...

I love a good thunderstorm, but only if I can be in the comfort of my own home.

Hey gosey, you should check out Coleman Hawkins' album The Hawk Flies High next time it rains. It's fantastic. Also, The Sound of Wind-driven Rain is a good album to listen to during a rain.

Oh yeah, The Sound of Wind-driven Rain is by William Ackerman...

I love rain. I write and study best when it's raining. Constant day after day sunshine is surreal and unsettling. I second Christin, though, I really don't like driving much in it.
