i hate the freaking yankees. i havent been this sad about a baseball game since the braves lost game 7 of the '91 world series. i cant believe i'll be rooting for the marlins in the 100th world series.
Posted by dp at October 17, 2003 12:24 AM | TrackBackAmen. What the bloody hell!? Everyone's tired of the Yankees.
Posted by: Z at October 17, 2003 1:14 AMIf it is any consolation, this is only the 98th World Series. While it is the 100th anniversary of the first, we missed one in 1994 with the strike, and John McGraw's Giants refused to play Connie Mack's A's in 1904.
So maybe the 100th will be something special.
Posted by: Duane at October 17, 2003 1:15 AMit's not the yankees fault they won. it's little's, for leaving pedro in. what an idiot. guess he didn't watch the cubs collapse the same way the night before.
Posted by: BobW at October 17, 2003 9:15 AMpersonally, I can't believe I won't be watching the world series this year. Pretty sad, but I just don't like either team.
Posted by: ColeSlaw at October 17, 2003 9:20 AMI damn near cried at the end of that game.
I'm now half-heartedly cheering for the marlins.
Posted by: Christin at October 17, 2003 9:30 AMwell, duane, thanks, but its not much of a consolation. i knew that, but i misremembered (yeah i made that up) what the '100' meant. duh.
Posted by: dp at October 17, 2003 10:51 AMI'm disappointed too, but remember, the results of both series are fitting - this was supposed to happen. Delight in the misfortune of the teams whose very definitions are misfortune. (It's real easy to say that when the teams of misfortune are not the Mariners.)
[Insert an obligatory "Go Marlins" here]
Posted by: the booth at October 18, 2003 1:25 AMnow that i think about it, isnt that like delighting in the misfortune of the jews because its their destiny to be oppressed by the rest of the world?
