we arrived this morning at 530 and went straight to bed. we got up around noon and made breakfast then we went to the plaza and looked for tours. our tour was at 3 and it was only two so we looked around. we went to the iglesia san francisco which was made out of volcanic rock and had beautiful architecture. we actually crashed a funeral. that´s right, a funeral. while we were looking around inside the church, a funeral procession wandered in. while we were looking around! so rude. but we kept our cool, and watched from the second to last pew for about 20 minutes till our tour left.
we went to la colpa, a big ranch where they supposedly call the cows by name. can you say lame? they let the cows walk around a corner where all the tourists are waiting while some guy bangs a drum and yells cow names. one by one the cows come. but we all know cows are possibly the stupidest animals on earth, so i moved around the corner to get a look at where the cows were coming from. and i saw a guy and a lady physically blocking the path of the cows so only one would leave the pen at a time. (the picture depicts this.) the sad part is that everyone seemed to be fooled by this conspiracy. at least the ranch was nice.
then it was time for our tour to move on so we hopped back in the combi-like van and headed off for another catarata. also a rip off. caleb said it was dry season now, but when he´d seen the waterfall two months ago it was cool. well, not anymore, amigos! not anymore. chase said he´d peed greater flows than this baby had. oh well 0 for 2. however, the neighboring town, llacanora, was quaint and pretty. the town had no police!
next we got back in the combi and drove by the inca baths, which i think we´re checking out tomorrow. should be fun and relaxing. then we came back to the house where we´re staying, and made spaghetti and tried to watch some pirated movies we´d bought. they were overdubbed (not subtitled, as most movies here are). so i found the third star wars pirated dvd that the family owns, and we watched that. it was really enjoyable. i thought it tied the two trilogies together really well. i wish i couldve seen it on the big screen.
the rest of my trip is on its way...dont forget if you click the picture here, it will take you to my other shots of peru thusfar.
