Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is perfection.

YHF is a flawless album. Summerteeth rocks me out harder. I go through this debate in my own head all the time...

I still like Summerteeth better.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is pure art. a masterpiece. summerteeth is a great record. great music. but from start to finish simply doesn't wrap itself around you and wrap you into it like YHF. beauty for the ears.

YHF. Without question.

But "Via Chicago" is Tweedy's greatest individual song.

In my very humble opinion, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot as far as overall creativity (my personal fave), Summerteeth as far as accessibility, although they're sort of in two different veins. For me, YHF is like Wilco's "OK Computer", if I might make that comparison.

By the way, if you like YHF (or Wilco period, for that matter), I'd recommend "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart - A Film About Wilco". If you don't think they're geniuses already, this DVD just might be a step in the right direction.

A few words...First, "I am trying to break your heart-a film about wilco" is unbelievable. Second, as far as the album dispute goes, in my also humble opinion, YHF is one of the greatest records ever made by anyone. It made me love Wilco and lots of other bands. Summerteeth is also great, but having said that, i'd rather hear A.M. over both of them.

comparing yankee hotel foxtrot to summerteeth is like comparing roger clemens to barry bonds. they are both great, but for different reasons. both are beautifully written and brilliantly produced. to pick one over the other would be like electing either bonds or clemens to the hall of fame. they're both amazing.

I've actually bought both of these...

I think YHF is decent album, though a TAD overrated.

Summerteeth just gets plain dull about halfway through.
They could have cut, like, 4 songs, easy...

I should also mention that I'm not a huge Wilco fan. Other than their always recording really clean albums (in terms of production), I've never really sensed anything overly original in their work.

so yea i've listened to some wilco and they are alright but not my fave....sorry dude....give me a lil nickelback or rascal flatts or eagles or something and i'll be happy. david, you know you love those bands and listen to them when nobody is around....btw how come you are like never online anymore? certain things keeping ya busy huh?....So yea your not online so i can't talk about how your boys the astros are so close to kickin the card's butts....They are down 2-1 at the moment but hey they still have 3 more innings to pull it out and if not, than they are up 3-1 in the series so it's all good. I hate to rock the boat on what appears to be a ghost town of a blog, but as much as I love YHF and Summerteeth, Being There is Wilco's finest album to date.

Also, Elizabeth, we don't know each other (I don't think), but I hope and pray that you've found some better music to listen to in the last five months. Nickleback? Seriously?

Micah, I'm almost positive we don't know each other and i'm still listenin to nickelback though only occasionally at the moment. Right now I've have in my car a lil Reliant K, yellowcard, Tim mcgraw and a lil radio with ghetto music thrown in there too. Sorry if ya don't like any of those either but it's good music to turn up way loud, roll down your window, and drive around town to. Makes me happy so bring it on. :P

I don't know any of you people, but I wanted to say two things:

2. YHF, obviously.

I'm a guest on here. And I found it by googling "best wilco album" -- I like YHF, just got ghost. I like it. was curious what other people said. the reason i wanted to post was to say that anyone who likes nickelback has no right to be critiquing music. 'nuff said.

wilco is one of those tricky bands where every album can be their best depending on your mood since each album can articulate an certain mood and so it's hard to tell. my own personal taste right now is Being There but again it'll be different tomorrow
